The Peschiera del Garda - Mantua is one of the most popular bike lanes of Veneto region.

Located between Verona and Mantua this route is developed on bike paths, flat paved and well marked for 42km of pure enjoyment.

The cycling path on Mincio river starts in Peschiera del Garda, a walled city geographically positioned between the southern shore of Lake Garda and the river Mincio.

This village had a military function: Roman fortress, Scaliger castle, fortified city of the Venetian republic, Napoleonic fortress and then Habsburg fort.

Among the points of interest along the cycle route there are: the village of Salionze, the castle of Mozambano with a well preserved historic center, Valeggio sul Mincio with its medieval fortifications, the beautiful village of Borghetto with the ancient mills and the Visconti bridge, the oasis of the Centrale del Corno and the Bosco Fontana.

Finally you enter by bike the city of Mantua where the river forms a system of lakes. After crossing the upper lake you enter the historic center. 

Mantova is a Renaissance city who preserves important architectures commissioned by the Gonzaga: the Ducal Palace, the courtyard of the Cavallerizza, the Palazzo Podestà, the Palazzo Te and the Tower of the Cage.

If you are a cyclist you are looking for something special to do in Italy during your city break we suggest to climb the Stelvio pass.

If you are not particularly trained we recommend climbing the stelvio starting from Bormio. 

Bormio is a mountain village that is about 3 hours by car from Milan Malpensa airport, obviously in normal traffic conditions.

Other convenient airports to reach Bormio could be to Bergamo or Verona.
