Our customers enjoy cycling in Orosei gulf of Sardinia island, Italy. |
OROSEI GULF
The gulf is divided into two morphologically different parts: the northern part, low on the sea, and composed of pine forests, long sandy shores and coastal dunes that go up to its northern limit, ie Capo Comino, and the southern part, consisting of the terminal part the Supramonte plateau, also called the marine Supramonte, which extends to the cape of Monte Santu.
For more than 40 km this very high stretch of coast is characterized by imposing limestone bastions covered by centuries-old woods made up of a luxuriant and varied Mediterranean scrub. Remained for centuries inaccessible by land, it is formed by characteristic sandy beaches and surrounded by vertical limestone walls, carved by deep gorges carved by ancient rivers now disappeared or swallowed up by the karst plateau above.
In addition to Orosei municipality, the town of Cala Gonone also overlooks the gulf where it is possible to embark, from the only port of the gulf, to visit the bays set in the limestone bastions or the caves of the Bue Marino in Dorgali area.
